Tom Mullen has been a solicitor in private practice since 1993, practising in the areas of contract, debt recovery, family and employment throughout that time. He has appeared in Sheriff Courts and Tribunals throughout Scotland and has conducted appeals before Sheriffs Principal in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway. He has significant experience in alternative dispute resolution having conducted arbitrations and mediations in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London. He has lived and worked in Aberdeen since 2001, initially as an associate in one of Aberdeen's largest commercial firms and between 2003 and 2011 as a partner at Stronachs Solicitors. Mullen and Co was set up in 2011. As well as conducting litigation in the local Sheriff Court and instructing in the Court of Session he appears regularly in family cases in the Sheriff Court. He has a long standing interest in family law and headed up the Family Law Unit at his previous firm.
Hayley Mullen qualified in 2002. She is a former Procurator Fiscal Depute and criminal defence agent. She now deals exclusively with family and child related matters, including matters where clients require legal aid. She is the former head of the Civil Legal Assistance Office in Aberdeen and moved to private practice in 2019. She has extensive experience in matters of residence and contact, as well as Children's Hearing referrals. She has for a number of years acted as a safeguarder in matters before the Children's Hearing and the Sheriff Court. She is regularly appointed as an independent court reporter in family cases concerning disputes over contact and residence.
